Critical News March 2009 Release News/Competitions/Podcast/Babbling
Spring is about to be sprung and with the joys of the season about to
hit here's an update on the goings on at Critical HQ.
Out now is the first dedicated artist EP ever released on Critical: The Poster
Girl EP from tech funk master Silent Witness. Press reviews have made us happy:
IDJ Single of the month: "21st-century tech-funk at its finest from the
steeliest, steadiest force in d&b right now."
Knowledge: these tunes: "a smooth roller with a hint of gnarly bass, a
deeply musical excursion and a streamlined lesson in neurofunk at its
very finest."
Mixmag: "a surprising but refreshing cocktail of clipped vocals,
new-wave-style bass and jangly guitar licks, without question the
catchiest thing London’s Silent Witness has done to date"
The EP is available in all good vinyl emporiums as well as from digital outlets such as beatport, itunes etc.
CRITDIGI001
After realising we have a stockpile of wicked tunes that for some reason or
another havent made it onto wax (but should have) we have taken action and are now ready to unleash our first digital exclusive: Cyantific & Kasra -
Outer Limits - Inside Info Remix is out now and available exclusively
from Beatport.com.
Following swiftly behind is CRIT038 - the mighty Break remix of timeless Alibi
backed with Organiser by Spectrasoul. To celebrate the release we are
offering 2 copies of this single on super fresh test press. To get your mitts on one all you have
to do is email us your best "alibi" - the best excuse you have had to
use for anything. The two that make us laugh the most will win a copy each.
Drop your entry to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and put Alibi Comp in
the subject.
Other scheduled releases are:
CRIT038LTD - Spectrasoul - Taken/Organiser Ramadanman Rmx.
Something slightly different for this release. On one side the
strutting funk of Taken and on the flipside, dubstep's hot kid on the block
gives Organiser the broken funk treatment. Strictly limited edition and
very very nice. Out April
CRIT040 - Sabre - Original Sin Feat Tuere/The Crest
The first single from Sabre in the build up to his album coming on
Critical in Autumn. Sabre's work has been consistently pushing boundaries
and this 12 is a prime example of what you can do when you ignore
conventions. Awesome music.
CRITLP003 - Critical Sound Vol 2
After the success of the first edition we decided to expand the Critical
Sound EP to a full album. Scheduled for release in June this is going to be a
deluxe package of 4 x 12" records featuring music by the likes of
Calibre, Break, Alix Perez & Survival, Sabre, Spectrasoul and more.
Other releases this year will include singles by Break, Calibre, Serum
and more.

gridlok

Hey everybody. Just wanted to drop an update on what's been going on in the world of Gridlok and Project 51. In this busted up economy I have found that as always music has come to the rescue, its the only medicine that cures me. With that said there is a ton of new stuff in progress and here is the list:

10 Years of Technique Album Tour Launch 2009 Print E-mail

techniquerecordings
There aren't many labels in Drum & Bass that can claim to be '10 years in the game'. Throughout jungle's history, countless imprints have come and gone without leaving a lasting legacy. Only the strongest survive, and next month, Technique Recordings joins that elite list, celebrating a decade on the dancefloor.
